Lorine Faith Niedecker

Lorine Niedecker is a poet from the Fort Atkinson area of Wisconsin. My wife and I saw a short filler piece on PBS with one of her poems being read. Beautiful poetry like the one below:

I rose from marsh mud

I rose from marsh mud
algae, equisetum, willows,
sweet green, noisy
birds and frogs

to see her wed in the rich
rich silence of the church,
the little white slave-girl
in her diamond fronds.

In aisle and arch
the stain secret collects.
United for life to serve
silver. Possessed.

this poem is from the Modern American Poetry website

New Job

I am starting to teach a class tomorrow at Mauston High School in their after school "Alternative Learning Academy." It should be a really good experience. The "My Classroom" link on the right side of the page will take you there.

This snowman was in the front window of the local St. Vincent de Paul store. I added the blood, but I think it was implied anyway. Posted by Hello

This past weekend was our 1 year anniversary. Colleen and I pose in front of a mural at the Ho-Chunk Casino. More pictures on picture page. Posted by Hello
